Vaike fell in love with theatre way too young and it has led her astray ever since. She sought complete immersion in the guise of life as a stage manager, indeed her initiation was with Hair of the Dog Theatre Co’s Julie at the very same Old Fitz back in ‘99. She continued in the indie scene at Old Fitz and Belvoir, and also Oval House Theatre (UK) finally deciding to make it formal and studying Technical Production at NIDA. After leaving she worked with QPAC and then received an Australia Council mentorship in arts administration with La Boite Theatre (Brisbane). This sideways step grew into the realm of arts finance and she worked for Moneypenny (Porchlight Films, Tsuki, Working Title Aus) and then if Media (Inside Film Mag/ The if Awards).
2005 saw her first forays into producing - for Stablemates, and then various shows at the Seymour Centre in 2006 for big M Productions. She also became (and still is) the new theatre producer for Pork Chop Productions, producing the Sydney Theatre Award-nominated Brilliant Monkey in 2007. Vaike is very excited to have come full circle and be back at her favourite theatre – the coolest theatre – the beloved Old Fitz ☺
