After graduating from the Stage Management course at WAAPA in 1999, Luke was the Production Manager for Black Swan Theatre Company for four years, working on over thirty productions including regional, national and overseas tours. He was also the founding director of Black Swan’s youth company, BSX-Theatre, and has directed for UDS, WA Youth Theatre and Broken Limb Theatre Company in Perth. He studied as a Director at NIDA in 2004, there directing Christophe Pellet’s One More Wasted Year and Fifteen and then some by Toby Schmitz. Since 2005 he has been the Production Manager for Australian Theatre for Young People, working on a variety of productions including tours to the Belfast Festival with Debra Oswald’s Skate and to the Adelaide Fringe Festival with Boy Overboard, on which he was also the Assistant Director, and he was Creative Producer of atyp’s triple-bill at the Old Fitzroy Theatre, 3 Little Fears. At the Old Fitzroy Luke has also produced and directed Little Boy by Nick Miller and Fifteen and then some by Toby Schmitz, and for TRS Theatre Company has co-designed Schmitz’s Cu*t Pi and Berkoff’s Harry’s Christmas, and was Assistant Director of Constance Drinkwater and the Final Days of Somerset at the Stables. He is currently the Associate Artistic Director of TRS Theatre Company.
